The Salt star has been traveling the globe on the promotional circuit for her new spy thriller, and we’ve noticed that she (and her stylists) are feeling the long evening looks we’ve been seeing so much of this Resort season. In Moscow on Sunday, she wore a halter-topped Atelier Versace gown in Russian red, complemented by flowing hair and soft, red lips. In Tokyo yesterday, she went back to Donatella’s atelier, choosing a floor-sweeping black Versace gown with a slit high enough to raise plenty of eyebrows (and a heavy, and we’d have to say ill-advised, sky-high beehive to match). And today at a press conference in Seoul, Jolie went the less glamorous route, opting for a full-length column gown with a bare face and barely visible nude heels. It’s been, no doubt about it,wholesale Hollister, a long week. What do you think? Elsewhere, editors like WWD’s Bridget Foley are lamenting that Angie isn’t doing her part as an aspirational fashion icon, a claim that her hit-and-miss style might justify. Do you like Angie’s maxi look—and do you think she’s holding her own on the fashion front?

In fall 2010, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana launched Spiga2, their boutique housing an artfully curated collection of young designers’ work. The idea was to create a space to nurture fashion designers on the rise, like Sophie Theallet, Behnaz Sarafpour, and Peter Jensen, and have fun at the same time with a DJ, videos, and free wireless Internet on hand to entertain visitors.

After the success of the first round, they are spreading the wealth once more to a newly selected group of designers, announced today. Their fall 2011 list is a collection of over 40 designers hailing from around the globe, including familiar names like returning designer Yigal Azrouël, Ohne Titel by Flora Gill and Alexa Adams, Kevork Kiledjian, and Felder Felder (from twin sisters Daniela and Annette Felder), as well as names lesser-known in the U.S., like Greece’s Fani Xenophontos, Russia’s Sergei Grinko, and Italy’s Comeforbreakfast.

Another name that stands out on the list: Italian-based designer Umit Benan, who originally worked under Theallet at François Nars’ Motu Tane label and Marc Jacobs. Just last month, the Turkish/German designer, wholesale Louis Vuitton belts, who had editors raving at Milan men’s fashion week, was announced as Milan Vukmirovic’s replacement at Trussardi.

When Jeanne Lanvin founded her couture house in 1909, she made her name creating super-luxurious clothes for mothers and their daughters. This past summer, Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz reawakened the house’s childrenswear roots, unveiling his Lanvin Petite 25-piece collection in New York.

Much to the delight of the label’s new 2-to-8-year-old clients, Lanvin followed the launch with an international pop-up shop tour, which wrapped up last month in New York with a party where juice boxes, not Champagne glasses, wholesale Louis Vuitton scarves, clinked. Here, in this exclusive behind-the-scenes video taken at the Winter 2012 Lanvin Petite photoshoot, a similar scene plays out. The girls show off the line’s second childrenswear collection, many of the pieces inspired by the main line, with Elbaz’s focus remaining on new fabrics and new technologies, just as in the pre-fall collection he showed last week. These tots are truly going to be Lanvin girls for life.

After designers Sean Monahan and Monica Paolini landed their New York-based contemporary women’s line, Sea, in stores, retailers like Barneys could hardly keep the label’s patterned silk sets and leopard-print pieces on the racks. This month, the duo gives us more to love with their new line of handbags.

“We wanted our bags to have the look our customers have come to expect from the ready-to-wear collection,” Monahan tells Style.com. “Hopefully, they are quite functional, easy, but fun to wear, wholesale Smet, with a spirited and optimistic personality.”

The bags are all of those things; they are, like the clothes, slightly edgy yet at the same time feminine and sophisticated. There are 17 styles for all different functions, from clutches to hobos to messengers, in the same stretch printed canvas from the clothing line, bubble lamb, and calf leather. Our favorites, of course, are the leopard-print numbers, including the Penelope shoulder bag ($495) and the Mayfair shopper ($475).

Sea handbags will be available January 15 at The Tannery.

New York-based designer Gabby Sabharwal sings the same tune as most women when it comes to shopping for swimwear: “I find it stressful—the fitting rooms have those weird lights, there’s always those annoying stickers in the suits, and I could never find anything that fit me correctly,” she tells Style.com. “The ones that did fit would be too skimpy. I thought, ‘I can’t be in front of my dad or my boyfriend’s family in this.’ “

Her solution was to found her own collection of printed swimsuit separates, Giejo, to address these concerns. All her tops and bottoms are sold individually,Replica Bottega Veneta bags, for mix-and-match effect. “Girls today mix high and low, and with my swimwear you can do the same,” the designer says. “The biggest thing is you don’t want to see yourself on the beach and have other girls in the exact same thing—this way that won’t happen.”

Giejo is Sabharwal’s first foray into the world of design, after years of working as a fashion publicist. Despite her lack of formal design training, she found her work experience was on her side. “Working in PR, I was always nervous that I wouldn’t be taken seriously because I didn’t have a full design background, but everyone and all of the designers were so encouraging and wanted to help make it happen,” she says. Tucker’s Gaby Basora was particularly encouraging. So were retailers. The debut Giejo collection hits stores, including New York’s Creatures of Comfort and L.A.’s Madison boutiques, in late February, and an exclusive collection for Barneys New York, made up of Aztec and floral prints, arrives on the retailer’s shelves in late spring—just in time for beach weather.

When the invitation landed for the debut collection by Ylias Nacer, presented at Boucheron on the Place Vendôme, we thought we were going to see a jewelry collection. Not quite. The clothes in this capsule line may be jewel-like in their details, but they are made in Parisian couture ateliers incorporating exotic fabrics and local crafts from faraway lands. This is perhaps only natural, given Nacer’s Ethiopian, Yemenite, and Moroccan roots, and the fact that this idea took shape as he was reading Laurence Benaïm’s biography of Yves Saint Laurent.

“I really wanted to find a way to incorporate artisanal work from all over the world into fashions produced in Paris,” the designer tells Style.com. The result: ten looks, including a long black veil of a dress with hand-crocheted motifs, a gold-beaded Moroccan passementerie, and traditional fabrics worked into a very Parisian silhouette (pictured), which his longtime friend and muse Elettra Wiedemann wore to the Bal des Vampires.

Such an exercise in bridging cultures turned out to pack unexpected lessons: “Fashion tastes are just not the same everywhere and artisans are true artists—when they embroidered on looks they didn’t like, it just didn’t work,” Nacer recounts. “We had to take everything apart, let them do their work,Wholesale Lyle Cott, and then reassemble it. I learned never to show anyone anything before it was really done,” he says.
Three paintings from Elizabeth Taylor’s personal art collection have been sold for £13.7m at an auction in London.

The combined total of the Vincent Van Gogh, Edgar Degas and Claude Pissarro artworks fetched more than double the £6.2m estimate at the Christie’s sale.

Van Gogh’s Vue de l’asile et de la Chapelle de Saint-Remy (1889),Cheap D G Outlet, fetched £10.1m, the highest price.

Taylor’s father originally bought the piece on her behalf in 1963 for £92,000.

It had been hung on the star’s living room wall in her Bel Air, California home until her death in March.

The other two paintings, a self-portrait by Degas and a large-scale landscape by Pissarro - called Pommiers a Eragny - sold for £713,250 and £2.9m respectively.

All three artworks featured in the global tour of highlights from the Collection of Elizabeth Taylor, which was displayed in both New York and London last autumn.

A further sale will offer 35 works from the late film star’s fine art collection on Wednesday.

In December, a sale of Taylor’s personal items such as jewellery, furniture and memorabilia, fetched $150m (£94m).

The Oscar-winning actress died in Los Angeles last year at the age of 79.

Paper-Cut-Project designers Nikki Salk and Amy Flurry bring a whole new meaning to the phrase “look good on paper.” The Atlanta-based duo has designed paper art pieces for the likes of Hermès and Cartier, and tomorrow their elaborate creations will accessorize the looks on the runway at Jen Kao.

“It’s a weird kismet,” Kao tells Style.com. “Right after my last season, I was thinking about doing a paper-inspired collection, and the next day, out of the blue, I got a postcard from them about possibly collaborating.”

Salk and Flurry then went to work laboring on the pieces to add a bit of fantasy to Kao’s “streetwear-inspired” collection. “My collection is a balance between beautiful and enticing and dangerous,Discount Dolce Gabbana,” Kao says. Tomorrow, watch for paper headdresses and a shoulder cage made with Bristol paper, glue, and an X-Acto knife, that’s it. “I have been working on one piece for two weeks, it’s insane,” Flurry says. “These are taking that long, yes, but the end result is crazy beautiful and it drives us to do what we do.”

Even the paper cuts don’t stop these two. “Yes, I have several,” Flurry says, laughing. “More than paper cuts, you get a callus because of working with an X-Acto knife.” Well, pain is beauty, right?
